Who this page is for

Anyone applying for a Pakistani visa online: tourists, business visitors, people visiting family, pilgrims and overseas Pakistanis’ foreign spouses. Since 1 January 2026 most nationalities apply through the Pakistan Online Visa System at visa.nadra.gov.pk, and the application cannot be submitted without two uploads: a photograph and a passport scan. The portal checks the file size of each; this page makes files that pass.

The photograph: what the portal checks

The photograph guide gives one hard number, 350 KB, and a list of picture rules: no more than 6 months old, plain white background, 45 mm high by 35 mm wide (the ordinary passport photo shape), your head and the top of your shoulders filling 70 to 80 percent of the picture, sharp focus, natural skin tones, even lighting with no shadows, flash reflections or red eye. You must look straight at the camera with a neutral expression and your mouth closed, eyes open with no hair across them, and alone in the picture with no chair back or other people.

Glasses are not allowed in the photo at all; the guide says the eyes must be shown clearly with no glasses on. Head coverings are permitted as long as the face is fully visible from chin to forehead and both edges of the face show. The same page has a “Photograph Verification” tool where you can check a file before you apply; a file from this page is within its size limit.

The tool here crops to the 35 × 45 shape and saves a JPG under 350 KB, well under the limit, with the full detail a phone camera gives. Use a picture taken against a white wall in daylight; the tool does not change backgrounds, and the guide does not allow edited photos.

The passport scan and other documents

The document upload page says the two mandatory documents are the passport and the photograph, that JPEG, JPG, PNG and PDF are accepted, and that each file must be no more than 500 KB. It also says a photograph of a document taken with a phone is acceptable, so you do not need a scanner.

Photograph the passport data page flat on a plain surface in daylight, with no glare on the laminate, and crop to the page before you use the tool with “Passport scan” selected. Check that the machine readable lines at the bottom are sharp in the result. Other supporting documents (hotel booking, invitation letter, return ticket) have the same 500 KB limit; for a multi-page PDF use the compress PDF tool on this site.

Questions about the Pakistan visa upload

What is the photo size for a Pakistan visa application?
Up to 350 KB, 45 mm high by 35 mm wide, on a plain white background, not more than 6 months old. The portal accepts JPEG, JPG and PNG.
What file size does the Pakistan Online Visa System allow for documents?
500 KB per file, in JPEG, JPG, PNG or PDF. The passport and the photograph are mandatory; other documents depend on the visa category.
Can I wear glasses in the Pakistan visa photo?
No. The photograph guide says the photo must show your eyes clearly with no glasses on. Head coverings are allowed if the whole face is visible.
Can I take the passport scan with my phone?
Yes. The upload page says photographs of supporting documents taken with a digital camera or mobile phone are acceptable. Keep the file under 500 KB and the text readable.
Is the file I download here edited, which the guide forbids?
The tool crops and saves a smaller file; it does not retouch the face or replace the background. If you want to be safe, upload the unedited phone photo when it is already under 350 KB, and use this page only when the file is too large.
