What 50 KB is good for

Fifty kilobytes is generous for a photograph. A passport style photo at 413 × 531 pixels fits at high quality, and the file often comes out below 50 KB without any visible loss. The tool does not add anything to reach the limit: if the best version of your photo is 40 KB, that is the file you get, and it is accepted because it is under the limit.

It is also enough for a clear picture of a CNIC or a short document, provided the photo is cropped to the card or page before it is compressed.

If your form gives a range

Some forms state a range, such as “between 20 KB and 50 KB”. This tool aims below the upper limit and shows the final size on the screen, so you can see at once whether it falls inside the range. If the file is below the lower limit, choose “Full image” or zoom out, which keeps more of the picture and gives a larger file.

Questions

How do I compress an image to 50 KB?
Choose your picture in the tool on this page and download the result. The file is a JPG under 50 KB.
Why is my file smaller than 50 KB?
The tool saves the best quality that fits and does not pad the file. A passport photo often needs less than 50 KB, and a smaller file is accepted wherever the limit is 50 KB.
Can I reduce a PNG or a screenshot to 50 KB?
Yes. Any picture you choose is converted to JPG and brought under the limit.
