Photo checker: will my photo pass the form?

Already have a photo? Find out before you upload it. Choose the form, choose the photo, and see in a second what the form will accept and what it will refuse, with the fix one tap away.

Free · No sign-up · Nothing uploaded

The photo stays on this device. It is checked inside your browser and is never uploaded to us.

What the checker looks at

  • File size against the form’s limit, exactly as the portal counts it. This is the reason most uploads fail.
  • Format. JPG and PNG are read everywhere; HEIC from an iPhone is not. Where the form names a format, the checker holds you to it.
  • Shape and pixels. Whether the picture is already passport shape or square, or exactly the pixel size a form such as Teletalk states.
  • Background. From the edges of the picture: plain and light, coloured, dark, or busy.
  • Lighting and sharpness. Whether the picture is dark, washed out or soft.

The first three are the rules a portal enforces by machine; a “Fail” there means the upload will be refused. The last two are estimates of what a person reviewing the application will see.

What it cannot check

The checker does not detect faces, so it cannot judge head size, expression, a cap, glasses or dress. Those rules are quoted from the official documents on each form’s page: PPSC, FPSC, passport and the rest. Read them once; they are short.

When the answer is “Fail”

Tap “Fix it with the resizer”. It opens the page for that form with the limit already set; choose the same photo there and download a file that passes. If the problem is the photo itself, the guide on taking a passport size photo at home shows the setup that gives a plain background and even light.

Questions about the photo checker

How do I check whether my photo meets the form’s requirements?
Choose the form at the top, then choose the photo. The checker reads the file on your device and lists what passes and what will be refused: file size against the form’s KB limit, the format, the shape, and estimates of the background, lighting and sharpness.
Is the photo uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything runs inside your browser. The picture never leaves your phone or computer, which also means the check is instant.
What does “Fail” mean?
Something the form checks by machine will refuse the file: it is over the KB limit, in a format the portal does not read (such as HEIC), or not the exact pixel size the form states. The “Fix it” button opens the resizer set to that form, which makes a file that passes.
What does “Check” mean?
Something a person at the other end may object to, which the checker can only estimate: a coloured or busy background, a dark or washed-out picture, a soft picture, or a shape that needs cropping. Look at the photo again with that in mind.
Can the checker tell me whether my face, expression or clothes are acceptable?
No. It measures the file and the picture as a whole; it does not detect faces. The rules on expression, head position, caps, glasses and dress are on each form’s page on this site, quoted from the official document.
The checker says my background is not white, but the wall was white.
It judges the outer edge of the picture. A shadow on the wall, a door frame, a curtain or warm indoor light can make a white wall read as grey or cream. Retake the photo in daylight, standing about 60 cm from the wall, and the reading will change.
Where do the limits come from?
From each organisation’s own document or form, quoted and dated on that form’s page. If your form is not in the list, choose “Another form” and type its limit.
