Why print a sheet instead of one photo
Application forms, admission files and test centres often ask for several printed photographs. A studio charges for each set. With one good photo on your phone you can print a whole sheet on a single piece of photo paper and cut the photos out yourself.
The tool places copies of your photo on the paper at the exact size of a passport photo, 35 mm by 45 mm, with a thin grey line around each one to show where to cut.
How to take the photo
- Stand about two feet in front of a plain white or light blue wall.
- Face a window in daytime so that your face is evenly lit, and switch the flash off.
- Ask someone to take the photo with the back camera, at the height of your eyes.
- Leave some space around your head and shoulders. You can zoom in with the tool afterwards.
Our guide on taking a passport size photo at home covers the setup in more detail.
How to print at the correct size
The sheet is made at 300 dots per inch, the quality photo shops print at. The size is correct only if the sheet is printed without scaling.
- At a photo shop: give them the JPG for 4 × 6 inch paper and ask for a 4 × 6 print with no cropping or “fit to paper”.
- On a home printer: choose the A4 sheet, download the PDF, and print at 100% or “Actual size”. Photo paper gives a much better result than plain paper.
After printing, measure one photo with a ruler. It should be 35 mm wide and 45 mm high.
Need the photo for an online form instead?
Online forms ask for a small file, not a print. Use the photo resizer and pick your form, and you will get a JPG under that form’s KB limit.
Questions

- Take a head and shoulders photo against a plain wall, choose it in the tool on this page, place your face in the frame, and download the sheet. Print it at actual size and cut along the grey lines.
- What size is a passport size photo in Pakistan?
- 35 mm wide by 45 mm high. The passport portal’s requirements page states 45 mm high by 35 mm wide, and every photo on the sheet is drawn at that size.
- How many passport photos fit on one sheet?
- Eight on 4 × 6 inch photo paper, in two rows of four. Thirty on an A4 page, in six rows of five.

- Yes. Download the JPG for 4 × 6 inch paper and ask the shop for a 4 × 6 print with no resizing or cropping. Most shops print this size for a small charge.
- Does the tool change my background?
- No. It crops and arranges your photo and changes nothing else. Take the photo against a plain white or light blue background.
- Can I use these prints for my passport application?
- The passport office asks for professionally taken photos and says photos cut down from larger pictures cannot be used. For a passport, use a studio. These sheets suit job applications, admission forms and other everyday needs.
