What 200 KB is good for

A 200 KB limit almost always belongs to a document field. It is enough for a full page photographed with a phone, with printed text and stamps still readable. The tool on this page starts with “Full image” selected and reduces the picture to about 1,200 pixels on its longer side, then sets the JPG quality as high as the limit allows.

A phone photo of a page is usually 2 to 8 MB, which is ten to forty times over the limit. Most of that size is detail the form does not need.

Picture or PDF?

Check which the form asks for. If the field accepts a picture, use this page. If it asks for a PDF, use the Compress PDF tool on this site, which builds a PDF under your limit from the same photos and can put several pages into one file.

For a copy of your CNIC with the front and back together, there is a separate tool that places both sides on one A4 page.

Questions

How do I compress an image to 200 KB?
Choose the picture in the tool on this page and download the result. It is saved as a JPG under 200 KB.
Will the text on my degree be readable at 200 KB?
Yes, if the page is photographed flat and in good light and the photo is cropped to the page. Open the downloaded file and zoom in to check before you upload it.
Can I use this for a passport photo?
Yes. Choose “Passport photo” in the tool. A passport photo needs much less than 200 KB, so the file will be well under the limit.
