What fits in 10 KB
Ten kilobytes is about one five-hundredth of a normal phone photo. To reach it, the tool reduces the picture to a few hundred pixels across and lowers the JPG quality. A passport style photo usually comes out around 250 to 400 pixels wide, depending on how much detail is in it.
That is enough for a face shown at stamp size on a form, and for a signature. It is not enough for a document with small printed text. A CNIC or a certificate will not be readable at 10 KB.
Getting the best result at this size
At 10 KB there is nothing to spare, so the photo itself matters more than at any other size. Use a plain wall as the background, good daylight on your face, and crop to head and shoulders. A plain background costs almost nothing in a JPG, which leaves the file for your face.
For a signature, sign in dark ink on plain white paper, photograph it in good light, and choose “Full image” after cropping the photo to the signature. A dark line on white paper compresses very well.
Questions
- How do I compress an image to 10 KB?
- Choose your picture in the tool on this page. It lowers the pixel size and the JPG quality only as far as needed and gives you a file just under 10 KB.
- Will my photo be blurry at 10 KB?
- A head and shoulders photo against a plain background stays recognisable and clean at stamp size. A photo with a busy background or small text will look rough, because there is too much detail for so small a file.
- Can I make a signature under 10 KB?
- Yes. Crop the photo to the signature, choose “Full image” in the tool, and download. Dark ink on white paper gives the clearest result.
