NTS photo size: passport size, up to 5 MB
The NTS candidate portal asks for a passport size profile photo with a blue or white background. Images can be up to 5 MB, so the photo does not need heavy compression.

NTS is generous on file size
Some blogs say NTS needs a 50 KB photo of 200 × 200 pixels. The NTS Candidate Portal Manual says something different: the limit is 5 MB for all images, and the photo must be passport size on a blue or white background.
Because the limit is large, there is no reason to squeeze the photo until the face blurs. The tool on this page crops to the passport shape and saves a clear, high quality copy. It is usually well under 150 KB, far below the 5 MB limit and quick to upload on mobile data.
Complete the profile before you apply
The photo is added on the “Update Profile” page, which is Step 2 of the NTS portal. The manual notes that only candidates with complete profiles are allowed to apply for a post, so add the photo before the closing date of the test you want.
The background rule matters more than the file size here. If your photo was taken against a coloured or patterned wall, retake it against a white wall or a plain blue sheet.
