Where a 30 KB limit is used

FPSC’s guidelines ask for a passport size picture in JPG or JPEG format “having size less than 30 Kb”. ASF’s guidelines ask for a passport size picture “of less than 30 KB” and for the front of the CNIC under the same limit.

PPSC is slightly stricter and asks for less than 25 KB. If you are applying there, use the PPSC page, which sets 25 KB for you.

What a picture looks like at 30 KB

A passport style photo fits at its full size of 413 × 531 pixels with good quality. For a face this is a comfortable limit, and the result is clear.

A CNIC is harder, because the card is covered in small text. Crop the photo to the edges of the card before you choose it, then select “Full image”. With a tight crop, the name and number remain readable at 30 KB.
