When one PDF is needed

Application portals often have a single upload field for “all documents”. Employers ask for a CV and certificates in one file. An assignment has to be handed in as one PDF although it was written in parts. Merging puts the separate files together, one after another, in a single document.

How to merge PDF files

  1. Tap “Choose PDF files” and select the files. You can select several at once or add more later.
  2. Look at the list. The first file becomes the first pages of the merged PDF.
  3. Use the arrows to move a file up or down, or the cross to remove it.
  4. Download the merged PDF.

What stays the same

The pages are copied, not redrawn. Text can still be selected and searched, and pictures keep their original quality. The size of the merged file is close to the sizes of the separate files added together.

If the merged file is too large

Merging does not make files smaller. If the portal has a limit, run the merged file through Compress PDF and set the limit you need. If some of your documents are still photos, turn them into a PDF first with JPG to PDF.

Questions

How do I merge PDF files?
Choose two or more PDF files in the tool on this page, put them in the order you want, and download the single merged PDF.
Does merging lower the quality?
No. The pages are copied as they are. Text stays selectable and pictures stay at their original quality.
How many files can I merge?
Up to 20 files at once, each up to 100 MB. Very large files take longer on a phone.
Can I change the order of the files?
Yes. Use the up and down arrows beside each file. The merged PDF follows the order shown in the list.
Why does it say my PDF is locked?
The file is protected with a password, so its pages cannot be copied. Remove the password in the program that created the file, then add it again.
Are my documents uploaded?
No. The files are joined inside your browser on your own device. They are never sent to us.
