Why a form refuses a PNG
Many upload fields accept JPG only. FPSC’s guidelines, for example, ask for the picture in JPG or JPEG format, and the Join Pak Army form shows “File must be a JPEG” for anything else. Screenshots are saved as PNG, and pictures saved from websites are often WebP, so they are refused until they are converted.
Renaming the file does not help. Changing the ending from .png to .jpg leaves a PNG inside. The picture has to be opened and saved again in the new format, which is what this tool does.
How to convert a picture
- Choose the format you need at the top: JPG for forms and photographs, PNG to keep transparency.
- Tap “Choose pictures” and select one or more files.
- Download each converted picture with its button.
JPG or PNG: which one should you use?
- JPG for photographs and for any online form. The file is small and every site accepts it.
- PNG for logos, drawings and screenshots with text, and whenever you need a transparent background.
JPG and JPEG are the same format with two spellings, so a file ending in .jpg is accepted wherever JPEG is asked for.
Need a smaller file as well?
Converting changes the format, not the limit. If your form also sets a size such as 20 KB or 50 KB, use the photo resizer. It converts to JPG and brings the picture under the limit in one step.
Questions
- How do I convert PNG to JPG?
- Keep “JPG” selected in the tool on this page and choose your PNG picture. The JPG appears below with a download button.
- Can I convert WebP to JPG?

- Can I convert JPG to PNG?

- What happens to a transparent background?
- JPG cannot store transparency, so a see-through area becomes white when you convert to JPG. Converting to PNG keeps the transparency.
- Does converting change the size of the picture?
- The width and height in pixels stay the same. The file size changes: a photograph saved as JPG is usually much smaller than the same picture as PNG.
- Can it open HEIC photos from an iPhone?
- Only in a browser that can open HEIC itself, such as Safari on an iPhone. On most Android phones and Windows computers a HEIC file cannot be opened. Set the iPhone camera to “Most Compatible” to save JPG instead.
