PM Youth Chromebook Scheme: documents, photo 300 KB, Sindh

By Umair Tahir · Updated 28 October 2026

The Prime Minister’s Youth Chromebook Scheme gives Chromebooks to top-performing government school students, and registration runs on an IBCC portal (pmychromebooks.ibcc.edu.pk) where the student uploads four files. The portal is one of the few Pakistani forms that states its file limits plainly, and most rejected uploads come from ignoring them. This page quotes the portal’s rules on eligibility, the four uploads and their 300 KB limit, the Sindh timing, and the parts of the process you cannot undo.

Who the portal accepts

  • Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan boards: only top-performing Grade 9 (SSC-I) students of Government/Public schools, based on the Annual Examinations 2026.
  • AJK, ICT and Gilgit-Baltistan boards: top-performing Grade 9 (SSC-I) and Grade 10 (SSC-II) students of Government schools.
  • In the portal’s words: “Only students enrolled in Government/Public Schools are eligible under the Scheme.” Private school students cannot register, and a student whose name is not on the board’s list will not be found by the portal.
  • Boards in the dropdown: BISE Lahore, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Multan, Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Bahawalpur, D.G. Khan, Sahiwal, Peshawar, Mardan, Swat, Malakand, Abbottabad, Bannu, D.I. Khan, Kohat, BBISE Quetta, AJK BISE Mirpur and FBISE Islamabad.

The four uploads and the 300 KB rule

Mark sheet (SSC-I or SSC-II)JPG, PNG or PDF300 KBMust be clearly readable
Attested B-Form or CNIC copyJPG, PNG or PDF300 KBAttested copy, clearly readable

300 KB is generous for a photo and tight for a scan. A phone photo of a face resized to about 600 by 800 pixels and saved as JPG lands around 60 to 150 KB with a plain wall behind it. A photo of a mark sheet is the problem: the page is full of small text, which a JPG cannot compress well, so a 4,000-pixel-wide camera image is often 3 to 5 MB. Resize it to about 1,200 pixels wide before saving; at that size a sheet stays readable and the JPG comes in at 150 to 280 KB. The compress tool linked below does the resize and the JPG quality together and stops just under the limit.

“Attested” means a gazetted officer or your school head has stamped and signed the photocopy. Scan or photograph the attested copy, not the original card, and keep the stamp inside the frame; a crop that cuts off the stamp is treated as unattested.

Registering, step by step

  1. Open pmychromebooks.ibcc.edu.pk and pick your board from the dropdown.
  2. Enter your CNIC or B-Form number (digits only, no dashes) and your date of birth. If the record is not found, the portal says to try your roll number or registration number instead; if it is still not found, contact your board, because the portal only knows names on the board’s list.
  3. Check that the name, school and marks shown match your board’s record.
  4. Upload the four files from the table, each under 300 KB.
  5. Review every field. The portal states: “Once you submit, you cannot change the form yourself.”
  6. Submit, note the reference number, and download the slip.

Each student may apply once. The portal also warns that false information cancels the Chromebook allocation and may lead to further action, so the mark sheet you upload must be the one the board issued.

Sindh students: when registration opens

The portal’s own note is the only reliable word on timing: registration for Sindh “will be opened on the same portal after the declaration of the Annual Examination 2026 results” of Class 9 by all Sindh boards. No date is given, and the Sindh boards are not yet in the dropdown. Rumours that Sindh is excluded are wrong; the scheme’s allocation reported in the press gives Sindh the second-largest share after Punjab. If you are in a Sindh government school, prepare the four files now so the upload takes five minutes when the board appears.

Deadlines for the other boards

The portal does not show a single last date; each board has announced its own, and several Punjab and KP boards set deadlines in mid-October 2026. A board that has closed registration will usually say so on its own website rather than on the portal. If your board’s date has passed, the only route is your board office, since the portal cannot accept a late record. The scheme is expected to run again for the next examination year; the same four files and limits are likely to apply.
