Dhaka University admission photo size 2026-27: pixels, KB, upload

By Umair Tahir · Updated 3 November 2026

Dhaka University in Bangladesh (not Delhi University) opens its 2026-27 undergraduate application on 11 November 2026 at 12:00 pm and closes it on 25 November at 11:59 pm, with the admission tests on five dates in December. The one part of the form that rejects people on the spot is the photograph, because the university sets a narrow pixel range as well as a file-size range and the upload fails if either is outside it. This page gives the rule as it was in the 2025-26 circular, which changed from the year before, how to make a file that fits, and the points to check in the 2026-27 circular on the day it appears. The official admission site was down for maintenance when this page was written, so the 2026-27 wording is quoted from the press reports of the circular and will be updated on 11 November.

The 2025-26 range is tight: a photo that is 500 pixels wide or 590 pixels tall is refused even though it looks identical on screen. The ratio of the accepted sizes is about 4:5 (for example 470 × 610), the usual passport-photo shape, so a passport-style crop resized to those exact pixels passes. No background colour or signature upload appears in the published rules; the circular asks for a recent passport-size photograph, and the same picture is used on the admit card and checked at the test centre, so it must look like you.

How to make the file

  1. Start from a clear, recent passport-style photo (front view, plain light background). A phone picture against a plain wall works if it is cropped to head and shoulders.
  2. Open the resize tool linked under this page, untick “keep the picture’s shape” only if your crop is not 4:5, and type the width and height inside the circular’s range: for the 2025-26 rule, 470 wide by 610 high is in the middle of both ranges.
  3. Download the JPG and check its size: it must be above 30 KB and below 200 KB. A 470 × 610 JPG of a face lands between 40 KB and 110 KB at normal quality, which is inside the range without any further compression.
  4. Keep the file name simple (for example photo.jpg) and keep a copy; the same photo is printed on the admit card.

On 11 November: what to check in the circular

  • The exact pixel ranges for width and height; the university changed them between 2024-25 and 2025-26 and may change them again.
  • The file-size range (30 to 200 KB in both previous rules) and the format (.jpg/.jpeg).
  • Whether a signature image is asked for; none was in the last two cycles.
  • The fee and the payment channels, and the unit-wise eligibility (HSC/SSC GPA minimums) which vary by unit.

This page will be updated with the 2026-27 wording on the day the circular is published on admission.eis.du.ac.bd.
